My goal has been to have a mental health private practice, working with and empowering people to identify approaches for a happier and healthier lifestyle.
I attended the University of Vermont, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology. I then received a Master of Science (MS) in Community Counseling Psychology from Springfield College. I returned to school again, attending Rivier University, obtaining a Certificate in Multicultural Counseling as well as a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) with a Master of Arts (MA) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I was granted my Mastery License in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling (MLADC) in January 2010. In addition, I was awarded an International Certification in Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counseling. In January 2012, I was licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). In July 2013, I was certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) by the International Association of Trauma Professionals. In September 2016, I earned a doctorate in Combined School and Counseling Psychology.
My approach emphasizes cognitive-behavioral techniques while utilizing a relational approach, which includes individually tailoring counseling to best help my client(s). I have worked with a wide range of clinical issues across the lifespan, with areas of special interest including adolescents, addictions, family issues, parent-child conflict, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, multicultural concerns, parenting concerns, behavioral difficulties, relationship issues, stress management, and organization management.
Prior to opening 713 Chestnut Street Counseling, I spent seven years working full time as a therapist in a grant based program that offered free services to children and their families. Previous to that, I was a family worker employed by a non-profit agency that was located throughout New Hampshire. I have been working with children, adolescents, individuals and families in and out of the Court system since 2002. I always try to help empower and strengthen my clients' existing skills and help navigate them toward a happier and healthier life. I am a strong believer in empowering individuals through knowledge and skill.
